5 Common Misconceptions about CBD

The world is still new to CBD. The new territory brings about much skepticism and many misconceptions. Out of courtesy for any that are interested in trying CBD products, it is good to provide as much clarity as possible. Instead of focusing on simply understanding what is true, potential consumers would greatly benefit from knowing what is untrue. Here are 5 common misconceptions about CBD:
#1: CBD is non-Psychoactive
Anyone that advertises it as non-psychoactive is misleading you, but don’t let that be what scares you away. Research has shown that CBD has antipsychotic, anxiety reducing, and antidepressant effects. All of these effects demonstrate that CBD is a mood altering substance. If something affects the brain or behavior, then it is psychoactive. Where CBD differs from THC, (the main psychoactive compound in cannabis that produces the high sensation) is the lack of an intoxicating effect. Yes, CBD is psychoactive, but that does not mean that you get high from it. CbD is not being tested for on drug tests and broad spectrum CBD products remove any THC to where its non detectable on test.
#2: CBD is addictive
Yes, CBD is indeed psychoactive, but that does not make it addictive either. Research and a healthy amount of skepticism is always wise, but in this case, the World Health Organization already answered your questions for you. In a November 2017 meeting, “the WHO Expert Committee on Drug Dependence (ECDD) concluded that, in its pure state, cannabidiol does not appear to have abuse potential or cause harm.”
#3: CBD is a sedative
CBD is not technically a sedative. Though many CBD products are intended to relax people and feel more comfortable, there are also CBD products that enhance focus and energy.
